Jazz Guitar lost one of its most talented and loyal proponents when Charles H. Chapman passed away Friday, July 15th, 2011, after a long illness. Long-time friends of Bob and myself, Charles was a Professor of Guitar at Berklee College of Music before he retired in 2003. He was also a prolific music journalist, penning articles for Guitar Player, Guitar Shop, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Gallery, 20th Century Guitar and Just Jazz Guitar magazines.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 34 years, Donna. (If you’d like to drop her a note (which she’d appreciate!) email her at chapmand4@earthlink.net or write her at: PO Box 234, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538-0234

(Charles shown here at the Fender/Guild/Benedetto booth at NAMM 2000 playing the ‘Manhattan’ model.)

You’ll be missed, Charlie!
