It’s difficult to hide that our favorite guitars to build each year are the Vinodetto Series made for vintner/Benedetto collector and now chairman Dave Miner. Each model year is unique, but the theme remains constant – incorporate Miner Wine in the finishing process, and customize some appointments to reflect Dave’s passion for vino! This tenth iteration is based upon a custom 16B shape, 2-1/2″ depth, B6 pickup, traditional f-holes, and Dave’s favorite 1-7/8″ nutwidth. The bocote binding and truss rod cover contrasts the cabernet sauvignon-stained European maple back and sides, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard. The most striking feature is the Robert Benedetto designed and installed authentic Miner wine corks inlaid on the headstock. The “stain” is reduced from a bottle of 2014 Benedetto Signature Cabernet Sauvignon from Miner’s Napa Valley winery and vineyards. And of course, like all Benedettos, it sounds and plays as beautifully as it looks! You can hear this instrument on August 18th at the Miner Valley Winery if you purchase a ticket to the annual Benedetto Wine Release Concert featuring Chico Pinheiro, Brian Nova and Howard Paul this year.
