2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of Benedetto Guitars, Inc, an internationally renowned manufacturer of premier jazz guitars. Founded by Robert Benedetto and handcrafted in Savannah, GA since 2006, Benedetto guitars have been played by four generations of the world’s best jazz guitarists and are regularly featured on important stages, clubs, festivals, radio, films, and recordings.
With Bob’s retirement approaching in 2015, Benedetto Guitars, Inc. prepared for years to evolve seamlessly from Bob’s personal workbench to now-master luthier Damon Mailand and his team of talented and skillful artisans. All the while, maintaining Bob’s iconic designs and traditional luthiery techniques.
“We are entrusted with Bob Benedetto’s legacy: a life-work of uncompromising performance, minimalist aesthetic, and extraordinary value,” stated CEO Howard Paul. “The brand is the culmination of decades of personal customer interaction between both Bob and Cindy Benedetto, and we strive to carry on that family sensibility,” he added.
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary, Benedetto Guitars, Inc. created a very special one-of-a-kind La Venezia model. Mailand hand-carved and graduated the guitar using Bob’s original tools and workbench, and Bob came out of retirement to hand antique-violin finish it at his home workbench in Florida. The result is new Benedetto guitar that looks and performs as if it was the first guitar Bob might have created, but with 50 years of love and experience!
The anniversary will be honored during a “Benedetto Guitars 50th Anniversary” concert opening night of the internationally acclaimed Savannah Music Festival on March 29, 2018 featuring Pat Martino, Howard Alden, Romero Lubambo, Chico Pinheiro, and “King” Solomon Hicks. Tickets are available at www.savannahmusicfestival.org.
