Benedetto President and CEO, Howard Paul has a tough job. How else could he get through it but with friends of the highest caliber? Pictured here (with their Bucky medals!) are: Gene Bertoncini, Dr. Frank Forte, Richard Maxwell, Bucky Pizzarelli, Howard Paul, Marty Liquori and Jerry Sims from Bucky’s 77th Birthday celebration as part of the 2003 Clearwater Jazz Party.
Pat Martino is world renowned for his distinctive mellow tone and blistering chops. We knew his signature model Benedetto could deliver in a jazz club but we wondered what would happen if we put the guitar in the able hands of blues master, King Solomon Hicks. As expected, the guitar is far more versatile one could ever imagine! Thanks for the clip, Vintage Guitar Magazine!
Blister quilt maple is a new one for us, suggested by one of our suppliers. Unique in its natural figure, we have to say it turned out absolutely stunning on this Bambino Deluxe model. Otherwise standard, this guitar is headed home to a very excited guitarist in New York.
Just when you thought Dan Wilson couldn’t offer any better on-line content, he comes back with this great interview series on Wednesdays at 8pm EDT. The catch? You have to be a member of his online community but don’t worry, it’s free. Go to danwilsonguitar.com/members to join.
We had a few requests for some audio clips of this guitar, a custom 16″, acoustic archtop made for a friend in California. It has a Western red cedar top, wenge back and sides, and a mahogany neck. The oval sound hole and unique, v-bracing give this guitar a very unique sound that we think lives somewhere near the sweet spot of archtop punch and flattop resonance.
With so many live performances eliminated this year, it’s hard to see the bright side. Well, we have a prediction for you: the coming months are going to be amazing for album releases recorded in quarantine! Take this session from bassist, Paul Keller for example. Set for a Christmastime release, Keller’s new record features Michael Reed and BG Artist, Randy Napoleon. We can’t wait to hear it, fellas!
